Saturday 6th June was a wonderful evening for the city of Sheffield, for up in the stunning Botanical Gardens Sheffield Doc/Fest screened the beautiful documentary ‘Mavis!’ about Mavis Staples of the Staple Singers. The film could be seen on Urban Entertainment’s gigantic 40ft x 20ft screen and proved to be a huge hit with all in attendance.
Sheffield Doc/Fest is an event growing with prestige as each year passes and it is our privilege to provide our unique AIRSCREEN for the second year running. The Botanical Garden’s were the perfect location for the event for such a wonderful event.
With food from Dodson’s Fish & Chips and Cow Boys you could get your hand on some of the finest burgers or battered fish to come to Sheffield. Alongside the fabulous streetfood vendors was a pop up stall from Sheffield’s favourite coffee house, Tamper Coffee. Tamper were providing donuts from the outstanding Depot Bakery, stunning cocktails and of course their infamous coffee and tea.
Prior to the film starting the audience were treat to a live Q&A with both the Mavis! director and producer, who went on to tell the story about why Mavis Staples is such an inspiration and fabulous performer to this very day. Despite Mavis’ success with the Staple Singers both the director and producer wanted to make a movie that celebrated her life now.
The film was a fantastic success and all in attendance went home with their belly’s stuffed and in good spirits.
